Marklift ("the app") is developed by Jamal Mulla ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app does with your data. The short version: the app is built so your documents stay on your device.

Your files stay on your device

Marklift converts PDF files to Markdown entirely on your device. The PDFs you select are read and processed locally, on your phone, and nothing about their contents leaves the device. We operate no server that receives, stores, or processes your file contents, and your files are never uploaded or shared.

Analytics we collect

We use PostHog to collect anonymous, aggregated usage analytics, for example that the app was opened or that a conversion happened, so we can understand how the app is used and improve it. These events do not include the contents of your files or any personal identifier, and are tied only to a random anonymous identifier, not to you. Analytics are hosted in the EU.

What we do not collect

We do not require an account and do not ask for your name, email, or other personal identifiers. We do not collect the contents of your files. We do not use advertising or sell data to anyone.

Permissions

The app only accesses the specific PDF file you explicitly choose through the system file picker. It does not scan or read any other files on your device.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "last updated" date.
